Beauty: HD Brows

Bold eyebrows have been a key makeup trend this Spring/Summer 2013 with the enviable bushy brows of Cara Delevingne's leading the way.  However, achieving the perfect brows can be harder than you think.

I had a bad experience at a beauty salon some years ago where I had a wax and was left with sections taken away.  It has taken me until now to achieve a reasonably good shape but still have noticeable gaps I fill in with either tint or pencil.

HD brows is something that I have wanted to try for a while and on discovering my new nail technician, Amy was also a HD Brows stylist, I booked an appointment almost instantly.

48 hours before my appointment, I was required to take a patch test.  This was to ensure that I was not allergic to the dye that would be used for the tinting.

Amy had been planning a shape and colour for my brows prior to my appointment.

Firstly, we both sanitised our hands and Amy cleaned the area she would be working on and then applied the tint.  This was then cleaned up with the use of cotton pads and buds.

Amy then shaped the brows by the use of waxing, threading, tweezing and trimming.  (This was also my first experience of threading).

Amy then finished up using the HD brow pencil in black (the pencil is available in either black or brown) and revealed one eyebrow in the mirror to confirm I was happy with the thickness and shape.  Amy suggested going a little thinner.

On completing the brows, Amy then demonstrated how to use the pencil by fine hair strokes and how to tweeze the brows in their new shape.

As it takes a while for my eyebrows to grow, my next appointment will be in two months time where I will write again with an update!

If you use the pencil, you will also require a 'pencil shaper'.  The pencil is different than other pencils - you use the blade to shape the pencil into a point which will then create a string for you to unwrap.  You can purchase both of these products here

After I got over the initial shock, I was very pleased with the end result and almost a week down the line, I have not had to use a pencil!

This treatment cost £25 and the session took an hour.
