Beauty: Two Disappointing Nail Polishes

First up is Maybelline's Forever Strong Nail Polish in Divine Wine, a rich berry shade.  This polish is hugely popular amongst the beauty blogging community, however, I was a little hesitant to try it as I have previously worn gel overlays and knew my expectations would be high.

To apply, I started with my trusty Double Duty Base & Top Coat by Sally Hansen.  The polish does take a while to dry and smudges easily but two coats provides great coverage and after applying a top coat, my nails were left with a glossy finish.

My disappointment is how easily this polish chips.  Maybelline only suggests to re-apply the top coat and after four days, I had to admit this polish wasn't for me.

I haven't used any other gel nail polishes but in terms of longevity, I prefer Essie.

My other disappointing polish is Tom Ford's Black Cherry.  The colour is a gorgeous deep purple with a subtle hint of red and packaged beautifully.

I applied the base coat followed by the first coat of polish, which was very streaky.  Two coats still didn't seem enough but three were too much.  When I tried again, I applied just two coats and evened it out the best I could and secured it with a top coat.  The result, again, was a high shine finish but chipped almost instantly.

For me, Chanel's Le Vernis is worth the hefty price tag for a buildable and intense colour.
